7 Reasons to Celebrate #NationalRumDay at SKY Waikiki
We all love a good drinking holiday like National Rum Day (as if we need another reason to order a cocktail… or 3… or 4…)! With holidays like this, the burning question isn’t how to celebrate, but where. Obviously, you’ll want to order a plethora of delicious drinks with your squad. But, getting everyone to decide on one place to go is always such a struggle! Fear not, we’ve got you covered! Keep reading for seven reasons why you should celebrate National Rum Day at SKY Waikiki.
1. Nothing says, “Hawaii” like a Blue Hawaii!
Strong, sweet, looks great in photos… Did we just describe the perfect cocktail? We think so! If you needed a really good reason to celebrate Rum Day at SKY Waikiki, we’ve got a strong contender right here (see what we did there?). Our Blue Hawaii is a modern interpretation of a classic cocktail made with light rum, vodka, blue curacao, pineapple, lemon, and lime. Don’t forget to snap your pic of this colorful drink before you finish it all!

2. Mama Mia Bahama Mama!
Maybe a super strong, super sweet drink isn’t for you. In that case, we suggest the Bahama Mama to celebrate National Rum Day! It’s made using hibiscus-infused Plantation 3 Stars rum, Koloa coconut rum, Kahlua coffee liqueur, pineapple, and lime. The combination of different flavors makes this drink very unique and delicious. Plus, who can resist a cocktail with a tiny umbrella?! We sure can’t!

3. Literal Music to Your Ears by Big John
National Rum Day can be about more than just drinks. Yeah, it’s mostly about the drinks, but it’s not the only thing that makes SKY Waikiki the perfect place to celebrate. After getting your rum cocktail of choice, sit back and relax while you listen to the soothing, magical voice of Big John. We wish he would strum his guitar and serenade us all day, every day. But, he’s here every Thursday through Saturday from 6-9pm, which is pretty darn close!

4. Refresh your palette with Kohana Daiquiri
Kohana Daiquiri – something simple that’s far from boring! This classic daiquiri recipe is made using 3 simple ingredients (rum, lime, and sugar) and features a local rum made right here on Oahu! Although this drink is simple, it’s still delightfully refreshing and super tasty. If you want to learn how to make it yourself, check this out.

5. National Rum Day falls on Aloha SKYday
What is Aloha SKYday? Think Aloha Friday but…better. Every Friday is Aloha SKYday complete with sunset dinner, live entertainment, and chill rooftop vibes. Come kick back in your board shorts and slippahs and there’s never a cover charge! Trust us when we say, this is where you’ll want to spend National Rum Day!
6. Hashtag Views
When it comes to the perfect rum cocktail for National Rum Day, the cherry on top is most definitively the views from our open-air Kalakaua deck. (Only the most gorgeous views of Diamond Head, Waikiki Beach, and the Honolulu City Lights you’ve ever seen in your life!) It’s something you don’t get to see every [National Rum] day… unless you’re us. We know, we’re spoiled 😊
7. Happy [tai]mes start with a SKYTai
Let’s be real, everyone loves a good happy hour and a good tropical cocktail, so why not have both on National Rum Day? The SKYTai is our version of a classic Mai Tai with an island twist. The great thing about this drink, besides it being freaking delicious, is you can walk right up to the bar and order one! No reservations needed; hit up the bar counter for happy hour from 5-9pm and get yourself a SKYTai. You’ll be glad you did!
