5 Hacks to Throw a Fancy AF Holiday Party

Whether you love lighting the tree or getting lit via eggnog, holiday festivities are an integral part of the month of December. But, if you’ve been tasked with throwing your company cocktail party, or are having a family bash at home, you may feel more melancholy than holly jolly. As your resident event experts, we’ve got 5 hacks so you can throw a fancy AF holiday party with less effort than standing in line for a mall Santa.

Upgrade Your Holiday Spirit(s)

Booze and holidays are an amazing combo; that’s why leading with fancy drinks is a great way to elevate your holiday party. Our Mixologist, Jen Ackrill, has a fun and easy holiday cocktail for you to try at home:

Santa’s Little Helper
1oz Crème de Cacao
1oz White Crème de Menthe
4oz Iced or Hot Peppermint Mocha
Shake and strain over fresh ice or into your favorite holiday mug (if hot) and garnish with whipped cream and candy cane dust

Who can resist peppermint with a dash of candy cane?

The best way to share the warm & fuzzies every holiday is to pay it forward. Find an easy way to give back to your community and share it with your holiday party guests! We’re partial to toy drives; who doesn’t love sharing the holiday spirit by picking fun toys for kids who won’t get any this year?

BTW, we’re having one of our own, benefitting the Waikiki Community Center. Stop by from November 26 – December 24 with a new, unwrapped toy and receive a free SKY French Fries with purchase of a social bite during dinner service. Or, free entry to the nightclub on Saturdays!

Visions of Sugar Plums

If there’s one thing everyone expects at a holiday party, it’s a holiday feast. Take your party to the next level by having a wide variety of food for everyone (yes, even your best friend’s crazy vegan girlfriend). Pot luck-style parties can be fun too; just make sure to give guests specific assignments so you don’t end up with 5 bundt cakes and a Caesar Salad.

Really want to impress your guests? Get a pro chef (like Chef Lance Kosaka) to do the cooking for you! Custom menus like whaaaat.

Turn Down For Watts

Fact: the more Christmas lights you can physically adhere to your house, the more festive your party will be. Trees are not the only place to put lights! Try gutters, doors, window sills, table edges, bed frames, or almost any other surface you can think of.

Our favorite lights? Honolulu city (see what we did there?). Bonus: we’ve got them up all year round!

Jingle Bell Rockin’

Don’t forget the most quintessential part to any holiday party: the holiday play list. We can’t think of a better way to get into the holiday mood than festive tunes (can’t go wrong by putting on some Mariah!).

Live music is a great way to level up your party. Seriously, have you heard John Akapo’s jams? Can’t get much more festive than that!

Food, drinks, lights, music, community; the perfect ingredients to sleigh the holidays. Did we mention…we’ve got all that! So, if you really want a fancy AF holiday party (or just a really solid, not fancy AF holiday party), check out info on our private parties. Bonus: you don’t have to do the dishes afterwards!
